Roskomnadzor threatens Tele2 with revocation of licenses for penetration of a cellular signal from neighboring regions into the Moscow region

Roskomnadzor claims that Tele2 in the Moscow region illegally provides cellular services with the help of base stations installed in neighboring regions - in Tula, Kaluga, and Smolensk. Demands until July 20 to reconfigure the base stations located near the borders with the Moscow region, to mute the signal power. Moreover, Roskomnadzor issued warnings about the suspension of licenses.

Tele2 Russia, in turn, claims that its subsidiaries (Votek Mobile and Smolensk Cellular) did not violate the terms of the licenses, since all their infrastructure facilities are located outside the Moscow Region (independent telecommunications lawyer Anton Bogatov told RBC daily that the requirement of the supervisor is baseless if the power of the base stations meets the requirements of frequency permissions).

An unnamed representative of one of the mobile operators told Kommersant that the Tele2 base stations are theoretically capable of reaching such border cities of the Moscow Region as Serpukhov, Pushchino, Chekhov, Kashira, Stupino, Ozherelye, Naro-Fominsk and Vereya with their signal .
