The second wikisource in Russian will appear

    Essay on a given topic

The language committee of the Wikimedia Foundation approved the Wikiteka in the Yakut language. This project was approved second after the Russian Wikisource among Russian, and accordingly , the Sakha language is the first among the minority languages of Russia that has a Wikisource.

Strictly speaking, many languages, for example, Tatar, have Wikisource, but they are in a test phase in the English namespace wikisource.org. Sakha Wikisource was also there for about three years before all the requirements of the language committee were fulfilled. Now the project will gain a separate domain and will have a fully sahahazychny content and interface.

If we talk about the importance of the project, then first of all I recall, of course, the consideration of attempts to overcome the so-called digital inequality. This term refers to unequal access to digital technologies among representatives of different ethnic groups and territories, which leads to low competitiveness of some groups of people. In this regard, UNESCO and other humanitarian organizations are pursuing a policy of expanding the representation of different languages of the world (of which there are more than 6 thousand) in cyberspace. This, from UNESCO’s point of view, reduces the amount of tension in society and helps solve social problems.

    HalanTul and Chordu
HalanTul bureaucrat Sakha Wikipedia and Praskovya Chordu, representative of the Krasnoyarsk Sakha, announce the approval of Sakha Wikiteka

The second Sakha project essentially complements the first - Wikipedia- if the latter explains phenomena, describes events, talks about people in a dry language of facts, then Wikisource is a collection of different original texts in the language, ranging from folklore to the texts of laws or scientific articles. Therefore, the value of Wikisource from the point of view of a native speaker is also that there is another available library of texts in the native language. Moreover, this library works round the clock and all year round, without requiring in exchange either banknotes or mandatory active participation. The key to continuous reliable work, the guarantee of the absence of any time restrictions on the storage of texts is free licenses, international law and the human community itself, represented by volunteers and donors of the Wikimedia Foundation .

Briefly about the Sakha people , which in Russia and the post-Soviet space are better known under the name Yakuts. This is a Turkic-speaking people living in the basin of one of the greatest rivers of the world Lena in northeast Asia. Along with Chuvash, Sakha for a long time - more than two thousand years ago - broke away from the main branch, and therefore is far from other Turkic languages, such as Turkish and Kazakh.
Under the influence of the Genghis Khan Empire (according to one version, warming the heart of each Yakut, the ruler’s mother was Uryanhai, and in the popular mind, Uranhai is the same as Yakut), the language absorbed a significant number of Mongolisms, and close proximity to the Paleoasians led to further expansion of the vocabulary .
The Sakha people are a unique community that managed to develop a production economy in the conditions of permafrost and long and harsh winters - the ancestors of the Yakuts were not only hunters, fishers and gatherers, but also long since they bred special breeds of cattle, which had amazingly tasty, nutritious meat and very fatty milk, as well as breeds of shaggy horses that easily tolerate fifty-degree frosts and thirty-five-degree summer heat. But the Sakha was not limited to survival, they managed to preserve the sacred knowledge of their ancestors, and the epic called Olonkho, whose options and plots are countless, is not only a colorful work of art, but also a philosophical treatise full of deep meaning. Epos Olonkho officially recognized UNESCO is a masterpiece of the world cultural heritage of mankind.

Let’s hope that Wikisource in the Saha language will help preserve another unique language on the planet. And language, in turn, will allow the youth of the people not to get lost in the bustling globalizing human ocean.
