Anonymity available to everyone
Hello everyone, let's get acquainted. We are Kebrum , a Seychelles company with Russian brains. Our profile is anonymity and security on the Internet, at the moment we have launched a VPN service and are not going to stop there. First, I’ll briefly talk about the service for those who did not participate in beta testing , and then a couple of cool stories, as it relies on Habré.
Kebrum VPN
When we started developing the service, the task was to make high technology available to everyone, both in terms of money and in terms of IT knowledge. Like a desktop client with one big button "Make
Initially, VPN technology was used to integrate corporate computers into a common network, which made it possible to significantly increase security and reduce infrastructure maintenance costs. Due to technical features, the technology quickly attracted cyber criminals, as it allowed to commit atrocities while remaining anonymous. With the development of the Internet and the law of law, there are many other possible uses of VPNs by ordinary users.
In the West, services that provide services for connecting to the Internet via VPN are quite common, while existing services in Russia are imprisoned for criminal needs, and prices are scary. Why then can an ordinary person need such a service?
So, situations when connecting via VPN is your way out.
Corporate restrictions
If you have blocked some sites at work or you want to go to bad sites, but don’t want the admin to see this, connect via VPN, this will remove all restrictions, and only the server address will remain in the logs. If you become very impudent, the admin will notice that you have 1 connection all the time and you are eating a lot of traffic, will check and add the address of the VPN server to the black list. Administrative rights are also needed, which is not available in all companies. VPNs are a good way to get around bans where there is no highly qualified administrator and strict rules.
Foreign sites
Many tasty sites and services become unavailable if you have a Russian IP address. Last.fm, Hulu, FOX, BBC, Pandora and many more. When connecting via VPN, your IP changes, and you get the Internet citizenship of the country where the server is located. Thus, you can be represented by anyone, depending on the policy of a particular resource. Often you can take part in closed beta and download something useful that is distributed only for a certain type of country, such as, for example, free applications in iTunes. It is very convenient and sometimes even cost-effective, because. an account at last.fm costs 5 euros, and when connected via Germany it becomes free.
Torrents
Downloading torrents via VPN is now the most popular feature of such services, since the technology allows you to remain anonymous, and therefore unpunished. You need to understand that if the state needs to find you, it will find you. To remain truly anonymous, you need to lead a rather specific lifestyle, which is usually not worth it. But copywriters need money and public flogging, so those who are easier to reach will be punished. And if they see the IP address of the public VPN service in the logs, they will spit and go to punish the less successful rocker from the country that suits them and even the city, so that it is more convenient to sue. One step away from the throne of copyright holders is that they become lazy and unprofitable to strain to restore global justice.
Anonymity
The good old anonymity, when it was possible to shit on the forums and laugh at the threats “Yes, I will calculate you by IP!” When the Internet was perceived as something remote from the real world. Anonymity is good for everyone, because often you have a dedicated IP address and there is no desire to leave it in the server logs on various parts of the Internet. If you want a little privacy - VPN is your way out. Encryption will prevent your provider from logging your network activity, and IP spoofing will leave no traces when surfing. It is for this type of freedom that we fell in love with the Internet at one time. Nevertheless, the word Internet is less and less like a synonym for freedom .

These are the possibilities VPN technology provides for ordinary Internet users.
After nights of deliberation, terrifying layouts and links to the konfu, shouting “Do they have this, do we have it?” All the details of the future service were thought out. We took OpenVPN open source technology, because it surpasses outdated protocols such as PPTP, wrapped this whole thing in a minimalistic cross-platform desktop client, wrote our own billing - voila, the result was a convenient and understandable product for any user. Due to automation and the absence of a large amount of costs for the “official business”, we are able to set delicious prices for tariffs. A large number of VPN services offer unlimited connection, but you need to understand that traffic costs money and real unlimited only happens in fairy tales. Often in the user agreement it says “No more than 2 GB per day”, and where the real unlimited, the company calculates that the user pumps out no more than N-gigabytes and includes this in the cost of the service. We made 3 tariffs, which will allow the user to choose the right amount of traffic on his own and not overpay for gigabytes, which he is not going to use. The amount of traffic in each tariff was derived empirically. Personally, I have a tariff of 25 GB per month and this is enough for me, so the minimum tariff includes 50 GB of traffic, which is quite enough for surfing, watching TV shows and movies online, downloading 2-3 heavy games, listening to your favorite music. Plus, the user receives a PPTP account for their mobile devices, since this protocol is natively supported by iPhone, iPad, Android and WM. We really tried to make a good service, which we will use ourselves.
Time for cool stories, gentlemen!
To startupers
Unfortunately, the team did not eat doshirak, did not sell the car and did not leave their main job to “make their dreams come true”. However, there is an interesting point. None of the developers saw in real life, and all work was carried out remotely. We can say that we have repeated the path of BaseCamp developers in this regard. Most likely, the work in the office would notably accelerate the development process, but would also increase its cost. In addition, at the moment everyone lives in different cities and there are no people who want to hastily come to the same city.
We did not meet great insurmountable problems, although if you think about it, there were difficult moments. The process of legalizing a business, opening accounts, obtaining cards, finding and connecting payment services and other paperwork slowed down the process slightly. In general, everything was successfully resolved, at the cost of resolving issues there was only time, which we had plenty of. The only thing we lacked was a designer, however, we always had assistants and critics, so we completed the required minimum for design. We did not see a start-up “burning eyes”, everyone enjoyed the development process and chose the development subject not because it is profitable, will fire, etc., but because we could do it well and it is in demand, so I did not would call Kebrum a startup.
There are 2 types of businesses: for money and for the soul. When you open a bakery and do it with your soul, then you just make good bread, and you don’t think how then you will open 51 bakery in the city and capture the bread market. Money gives you the opportunity to do what you like, but what's the point of spending half the time on something that gives money, but does not give pleasure, if you can immediately do what you love? “I’ll earn a million, buy a car, an apartment, everyone will respect me and ... and ... well, I’ll live well” - this is not our case. Even with a million, we will do what we are doing now.
Paranoid and silly kulhackers
If you have a good smoke, then a VPN for $ 5-100 will not save you from a state with unlimited resources, you do not need to criticize the services, this is not their fault. A professional independently raises a triple VPN on broken computers across the whole world and his behavior on the network is different from "downloading torrents and calling politicians the
When connecting via VPN, you buy your tail like a lizard, which in case of danger can be discarded (your account will be blocked) and you will lose only the money that you paid for the service. Personally, we maintain two-day logs such as account-IP (the address of the visited resource, not yours) to block the accounts of criminals. The maximum that we can give the authorities a pair of username / password and only by decision of the Seychelles court. Our service is intended for ordinary Internet users who do not want to be a victim of wild copyright laws, and want a little more privacy and freedom.
PS Those services that claim to have no logs and at the same time roll out a whole list of rules contradict themselves. How do they know who exactly violated the rule if there are no logs? Something is wrong here, especially when it comes to legal companies.
What's next?
For this service, it is planned to add the possibility of using custom scripts so that those who wish can pervert with traffic as they like. Also in the process of development is the ability to buy a dedicated IP address that will belong to you and only to you, since many ask about it. Well, I want to ask questions that will improve the service.
- Why do you need a dedicated IP?
- Is geolocation of a dedicated IP address important to you?
- Are there any general wishes for the client?
You can check if your client works for free through a test server (which will only show our site, but will make sure that everything works for you as it should). We look forward to your comments and questions.
