The baby monitor helped Russian students get silver at the Imagine Cup 2010 finals!

In Warsaw, the international finals of the Imagine Cup 2010 student technology cup ended tonight . We are pleased to inform you that the Russian team from Moscow City Pedagogical University (MGPU), which presented the Robonyan project in the category of “embedded systems” at the competition , took second place in the competition , losing only to the team from Taiwan. The guys will receive a cash prize of $ 10,000 - but this is not the most important thing! Much more important is the invaluable experience of communicating with students from around the world that they have already received while at the finals in Warsaw.

Here are the names of the winners (from left to right in the photo): Viktor Yurenkov, Alexey Kashcheev, Ekaterina Frolova. Awarded - Scott Davis, Captain of Embedded Competitions. Project manager (not pictured because I couldn’t go to Warsaw): Vladimir Evgenievich Pavlovsky , Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor, Research Fellow, IPM RAS.

The most curious can watch the video (it’s interesting to watch the embedded award from 1:20:00) and photos from the award ceremony.

This is not the first year that Russian students have shown themselves very worthily in various categories of the Imagine Cup - last year, students of the UNN took second placein the category of software projects, in 2008 Russia received gold in the “Project Hoshimi” category and a special prize Engineering Excellence Award. Do not forget that this year Robonya is not the only champion: the Russian BigTurtle team from SPbSPU received a special prize in the Internet Explorer 8 Award category for the best use of visual search technology in the visual online game they made.

In the near future we will tell you more about the competition and publish an interview with the winning team. Now I invite you, together with the guys who are now in Warsaw, as well as their leader and all of us to sincerely rejoice for the success of Russian programmers! Congratulations are accepted in the comments! Also in the comments you can ask questions to the guys who (at least the most interesting and “plus”) I will try to voice during the interview.

By the way, if you want to be in the place of winners next year, you can start now! Registration for the Imagine Cup 2011 is already open, and it was announced that the final competition will be held in the summer of 2011 in New York. First lady of the United States Michelle Obama delivered an incendiary speech to all participants in the competition, inviting them to become "ambassadors of innovation" in their country and not to abandon the work they had begun. In order for the guys to be able to develop their project further, all finalists will have access to the BizSpark program , as well as a phone based on Windows Phone 7 (when it will be available in their country).
