Robonaut 2 astronaut passed the final tests before being sent to space

On Habré, more than once they wrote about a cute and rather perfect robot-cosmonaut, who received the name Robonaut 2. This robot, as the developers hope, can do a lot of useful things for us people, participating in various space programs. Let me remind you that Robonaut 2 is a joint project of NASA and General Motors, work on the project has been ongoing since 2007, and now the heroic robot passed the final tests, receiving only the "five" (well, maybe with a minus). Now our researcher has a direct road to space. The developers on this occasion drank all the champagne in the office posted a press release , where they talked about further achievements of the iron cosmonaut.

Let me remind you that Robonaut 2 is designed to replace a person when going out into outer space. In addition, he knows how to eliminate breakdowns in depressurized compartments. Previously, there were some problems when the robot copied the movements of a human operator. Now, almost all the problems are behind, and the last test for the robot is outer space.

That's just all this robot will do after some (yet indefinite) time. The press release does not contain any specifics, which cannot but upset, but it is good that the robot nevertheless passed all the tests, and now it will really work in space.

By the way, during the work on the robot, the developers received 34 patents, among which there are extremely useful for the automotive industry (well, it is not for nothing that the guys from General Motors try there). Among them - automatic parking, detection of moving objects in the "blind" zone and others. Well, this, by the way, is not entirely relevant.

It remains only to regret that the date of sending our robot into space has not yet been determined.

But a few days ago, the same guys from NASA successfully tested an automatic lunar station, which even managed to land in tests on Earth.

Maybe these two iron friends will become partners on the moon? Although it is unlikely, because Obama recently said that the US lunar program is being minimized. It's a pity.
