Automatically disable touchpad while typing

While typing on a laptop, palms often touch the touchpad, which leads to cursor movements and clicks in random places on the screen.

On some laptops, the touchpad cannot be turned off with a quick key combination. On some it’s not possible at all (some macbooks, some netbooks).

The question arises: is it really impossible to automatically turn off the touchpad (ignore touch and tap) directly while typing?

Continuous typing is quite easy to automatically distinguish from keystroke modifiers.

Why is this not done by default to ensure the comfort of ordinary users who cannot find the necessary settings and individual programs and do not know about their existence?
Because I misunderstand something and do not take into account (which is more likely) or for other reasons?
