Mail.Ru has opened an API for external sites

Independent developers can create applications for our social network My Mir Mail.Ru for a long time , as well as put special buttons on their pages that enable users to exchange links to interesting materials from these sites within My World.

Today we took the next step in this direction and opened another kind of API for third-party resources, which we call Mail.Ru API. Sites. They have already expressed a desire to use it (and now they are carrying out all the necessary technical procedures), for example, projects such as Afisha.ru and Pravda.ru.

What it is? First of all, a potential source of a large number of new users.

After all, any third-party site can publish messages with active hyperlinks both in the “What's New” event feed of the user, and through personal notifications and a widget in his profile (by the way, widgets are generally a unique feature of My World), an example of which is given below. Naturally, all this is done only with the consent of the person.

In addition, the Mail.Ru API. Sites makes it possible to use a single authorization mechanism for the Mail.Ru portal. As a result, the process of authorization and registration of site users is greatly simplified - the API independently obtains from the profile of a person in My World all the necessary information (of course, with his knowledge).

Finally, last but not least, the API gives access to the user's social graph (in particular, information about his friends list), his content (for example, photo albums) and personal data. Thanks to this, the possibilities of sites to offer users personalized social services are expanding.

Detailed documentation, including detailed how-to on integration with Mail.Ru API. Sites can be found here .

The creators of the API follow the comments on the topic and will be happy to answer any questions.
