Gigabyte Adventures in Russia

The other day, three large companies, namely GIGABYTE, Intel and Kingston, held a small seminar in the Izmailovsky Kremlin, where they briefly talked about the winter-spring 2010 season.

My first panorama in my life)

    Traffic.

Typically, places for such events are chosen for a reason, but this time, apparently due to everyday activities, I still did not understand why we were there, in the palace of the Russian meal of the Izmailovsky Kremlin. This meeting was especially remembered - not every day it is possible to feel the atmosphere of irrevocably past time.

The Kremlin itself is beautiful ... but it’s one thing to see it outside, and another to visit it inside. And, perhaps, all kinds of limousines are knocked out of the general picture of the past, but here the walls painted under various fairy-tale stories look very cool.

Konstantin Yakovlev , the head of the technical marketing department at GIGABYTE,    appeared first under the light of the projector .

    image

He briefly talked about the numbers that gig maneuvers (founding date, capital, number of employees, production volumes of all five divisions), the company's production capacities and all kinds of patents.

And after that, he introduced all those present with the latest motherboards, which will soon be on sale.

These are several models on the new Intel H55 and H57 chipsets for different sockets, with support for USB3.0 and SATA3.

And if each manufacturer in the motherboard has its own pros and cons, then the presence of the last two points cannot but rejoice.

They promise a tenfold increase in speed via USB, but, as shown by the experiments of DeDaL, everything is a little more modest.

A little later, a whole delegation of foreign guests and company employees appeared on the improvised stage. He didn’t remember the names and ranks, but in broken Russian they sincerely wished everyone success and said they were glad to cooperate with us :) Although no ... I remembered one name - it was the chairman of the board of directors and president of the holding GIGAВYTE, Mr. Dandy Yeh .

    image

The speech of foreign guests was replaced by Vyacheslav Dubensky , development manager of Kingston in Russia and the CIS countries. Almost nothing was said about the news from him, but I generally liked his story - I learned a lot about the company itself.

It turns out that all of their memory bars have a lifetime guarantee - usually such a promise is given only in the case of complete confidence. On the other hand, he told where this confidence comes from - it turns out that absolutely all memory slats are actively tested in special temperature cabinets, at elevated temperatures and voltages. And if there is an error in at least one memory cell, the entire module is considered unusable. Accordingly, in fact, all memory is initially sold “used,” but this is unlikely to have a negative effect - the test simulates three months of continuous memory operation and allows virtually eliminating the possibility of an error.

And something else was said about the KingstonCare principle- supposedly for corporate clients, in the event of a breakdown, the company is ready to replace the memory anywhere in Russia within one day.

Of course, it is hard to believe, but if they say it, I think you can believe it) Well, a few words were told about the company's SSDs - taking into account Kingston’s position in the memory market, I am finally convinced that these drives are the future.

While there are several series of different volumes, respectively, the price range is also different. But the fact that technology is slowly running in, and the scale of production is growing, only means that in the near future drives will become more affordable.

Concluded speeches by Vlad Nikonov from Intel. At first I thought that for the hundredth time I would have to watch the same presentation ... when I suddenly saw new slides) I leave a couple of them for independent study.

At the end there was a small entertainment program, dance songs.

Girls with a harp, guys with balalaikas and button accordions ... fruit drinks, kvass, mead, pies and bears - very patriotic) I think even as many people from warmer countries imagine Russia.

    Good luck!
