Photo Gallery for WordPress or a little tinker with NextGen
A lot has been written about NextGen plugin. But I want to share a little from my experience with what (at least I did not see) that they did not write about.
Those who are busy with waterpress, I think, know this plugin, and I don’t want to paint its main features. And I want to paint the types of flash players for viewing photos in NextGen galleries.
After installing the plugin itself, you can use the built-in slideshow and view it using PicLens player.
To work correctly, he also needs an Imagerotator .
From the file archive imagerotator.swf pumped into the wp-content / uploads /, then go to the page yourdomain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=nggallery-options , in the Slideshow tab, specify the path to a file entomu, and Gallery tab turn on and customize the slideshow.
What do we get? And here's what:

In principle, such a player is normal, but the controls are small and there are no thumbnails. And the rest is normal - I liked it.
This of course is a Piece with a capital letter. :) On the page yourdomain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=nggallery-options , on the General Options tab, enable Piclens support.
Here's what it looks like:

I really liked it. Everything is fine - the player is very well made, the thumbnails are convenient, the controls are full-screen. But there are no settings at all (well, a Russian site, such a module with an interface from England does not look like), and this 3D viewing is interfering. What is it - I did not really understand, but when I found out that I needed to download something for him, I realized that I didn’t need it. Anyway, for me personally this is an excess. But there is no way to remove it - there are no settings. But be that as it may, the impression is very positive.
These players give us a standard plugin. But one more thing is possible.
When installing the NextGen Galleryview module (download here ), you can get another player. This is not a flash player, this canoe is made on JS. To view it, you need to enable the downloaded and installed plugin, and on the page specify the tag: [nggallery id = 1 template = galleryview images = 0]
Here's what we get:

The image shows that it is crooked. The fact is that either CSS is not drafted there, or something else. However, they immediately warn about this - it is sensitive to the CSS of the topic itself. As a result, if there is a non-standard theme (and who has the standard one?), The plug-in will have to be brutally processed with a file. Another of the minuses is too miniature miniatures. In short, the plugin was not impressive.
Now a small overview of other players that are not included in the basic kit, so to speak.
Standard repositories have the NextGEN Smooth Gallery plugin. We put it, activate it. On the page yourdomain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=nextgen-smooth-gallery everything is customizable. Then to view the gallery on the page you need to insert the tag: [smooth = id: 1].
Here is the result:

Personally, I liked it the most, and I use it. It can be configured, and convenient, and made with high quality. The only negative is that it does not fit the images to its size, but simply crop them. Therefore, if I have a player with a size of 640x480 on my page, then I upload photos to a server of the same size.
Next 4 more players,we ’ll continue after the advertisement, stay with us , they are all set up the same way.
Install NextGEN FlashViewer plugin from standard repositories, activate. On the page yourdomain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=nggallery-flashviewer you will be asked to download the players themselves (need their swf files). Download, upload the files where it says, everything is configured on the same page.
Tag on page: [autoviewer id = "1" width = "640" height = "480"]

A fairly simple list player. Management is simple, no frills. But he was not particularly impressed, it was too simple. Although someone may have enough of this.
Tag on page: [tiltviewer id = “1” width = “640” height = “480”]

Some strange player with wriggling photos. In addition to the aforementioned squirming, I did not see anything special.
Tag on page: [pcviewer id = “1” width = “640” height = “480”]

A curious player that “hangs” postcards. But is suitable for def. design, I think it will not look everywhere. And you need to configure it with caution, otherwise viewing the images will be terrible. And so - quite an original little thing.
Still there was a Simpleviewer. In fact, a parody of the Smooth player. Somehow he looked pathetic that I didn’t even want to make an ego screen - in general, IMHO, crap.
Well here is such a plugin reviewer. :) I suffered with these galleries, maybe it will be easier for someone to look at the review and immediately choose the right one.
I waved to do a photo gallery, to be honest. Not so much material, you have to do a lot at random. But apparently, I still found what I wanted. It’s also great that when searching for a plugin you cannot sort by rating. Because of this, finding a good gamna in a heap is not an easy task.
And finally, a curious quote in the subject:
That's it. I have nothing against WordPress, I love him very much, but he is not perfect either.

Summary ...
Well here is such a plugin reviewer. :) I suffered with these galleries, maybe it will be easier for someone to look at the review and immediately choose the right one.
... and a little thought and philosophy

And finally, a curious quote in the subject:
(02:27:22) George: did you screw some kind of photo gallery on your WordPress?
(02:27:26) George: why did I wave
(02:36:24) Kerk: I tried it somehow, but it
turned out shit :-) (02:36:30) George: :)
(02:36:36 ) George: meaning I'm not the only one)
That's it. I have nothing against WordPress, I love him very much, but he is not perfect either.
