The drive can not only read, but also record discs. In addition to the functions of reading and writing DVDs, the netbook received a very convenient almost full-sized keyboard - its dimensions are only 8% smaller than the standard keyboard (almost all new ASUS laptops and netbooks are equipped with similar ones), for which special thanks to the company's designers. Inside there is an Intel Atom processor with a clock frequency of 1.66 GHz, which is able to not only add speed to the netbook, but also manages to reduce its appetites, reducing energy consumption.

The computer also uses a new graphics chipset. The Intel GN40 is great at playing 720p high-definition video. A clearer 1080p format will not work, but it is not necessary. Do not forget that the 1004DN is just a miniature netbook, and it has a 10-inch display that supports a resolution of 1024 × 600 pixels. By the way, the display has LED backlighting, which means rich colors and a longer battery life. Outwardly, it is in every possible way a pleasant to the touch machine made in calm tones: something in between a netbook for a businessman and an advanced grandmother of a businessman, which would be appropriate to look at both in the office and at home in the kitchen. The computer case looks like it was treated with abrasive, and the computer itself, along with the battery, weighs only 1.45 kg.

Other characteristics of this netbook are quite typical for the Eee PC: a 120-gigabyte hard drive, a multifunctional card reader that can read eight different formats of flash cards, three USB sockets and the ubiquitous ExpressCard for connecting various complex devices. Fingerprint Recognition is a pleasant arabesque, but the most important thing in the new 1004DN, nevertheless, DVD: if for some personal reasons (watching movies, installing software and games from disks, etc.) you didn’t have enough of it in previous Eee netbook models, now there’s even that.
