Admin joys. Creating a Remote Terminal

I want to bring to your attention, as for me, the easiest way to organize a graphical remote terminal, and I will try to make it as simple as possible.

And so, I present to you the NX NoMachine .
NX allows you to start a remote X11 session, with a client for all popular platforms such as Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and Solaris, and a server for Linux and Solaris (server support for Windows and Mac OS platforms is also in development). When I came across this information, I immediately thought, why do I need a Windows NX server, they also have an RDP protocol, but after the first installation I was convinced that NX works fine, even through a slow network connection, without any problems, which can not but rejoice. In addition, NX can also connect to a remote RDP and VNC server, which is nice to agree and eliminates the need to use a bunch of clients.

NX is provided both on a paid and free basis (the free version limits the number of connections to the NX server to 2). I will not particularly dwell on the configuration of this product, since everything is very clearly described on the official website, in the documentation section , I will show, except, perhaps, the setup process for your beloved Debian.

To begin with, the system must have an X-server and a shell, I tested gnome and kde4, and was absolutely satisfied with the result.

The next stage, we go to the company’s page in the Download section and see a lot of useful and joyful for the admin eye. But today we are specifically interested in NX Free Edition - a free server, and NX Client Products - this is the client part.

Let's start with the server. For all Debian based distributions, choose NX Free Edition for Linux DEB, be careful and choose the right architecture.

And so - the server side: to prepare a wonderful product, we will use the three ingredients nxclient, nxnode, nxserver and hope that the dish turns out to be excellent. And now a few commands:

Attention, you need to install in strict order. Minimum Requirements for Success
    • 400 MHz processor
    • 128 MB RAM
    • 35 MB free disk space
    • Network (local area network, or Internet channel not lower than 33.6 Kbps)

If you did everything correctly, the server should already be running, and this can be easily checked with the command / usr / NX / bin / nxserver --status, and the correct answer is:
    NX> 900 Connecting to server ...
NX> 110 NX Server is running.
    NX> 999 Bye.

If everything is correct, proceed to the client side, in the Download section, select the desired platform and install.

We start and see the connection wizard window,
www.nomachine.com/screenshot/linux-client.php - a set of Linux client connection screenshots,
www.nomachine.com/screenshot/windows-client.php - it looks similar in Windows too.
After passing a few simple steps, we log in and get a connection. If you work in a local network or information is not confidential, encryption can be disabled.

I wish you successful use, I am waiting for comments, and I hope that it is painted quite simply.
