Each note remembers its place

With this note, we would like to start a small series of peculiar short references on certain functions and features of the service, which are not always obvious to new Evernote users. And “veterans” eventually develop a certain algorithm for working with the service, and they can unknowingly ignore a number of fresh features implemented in new versions.

For example, many users are aware that Evernote clients for iPhone, Windows Mobile and Blackberry can use GPS to remember the place where a note was taken. We have repeatedly written about this. But the usefulness of this function, as it seems to us, is often underestimated.

So, if you have an iPhone 3G, a smartphone with Windows Mobile or Blackberry with a GPS module, then each note created on the phone will automatically capture the current location. As a result, in the future you will be able to narrow your search for the necessary data only with those notes that were made close to your current location.

Suppose you went to Kiev for a weekend with friends last month. And today we arrived there at the conference. It is clear that all the notes made in this city - photos of places, addresses, facts become very relevant. To immediately see them all, just give Evernote the command to show all the data that you added at this place last time. Moreover, the search circle (the circle here should be taken quite literally) can be limited to a radius of 1, 5 or 25 km. You can set it on the screen for generating a request:

Yes, by the way, if you look at the detailed information about the note, you will see that Evernote automatically converted the latitude and longitude of the place to the name of the city located on this place.
