Adobe will open RTMP

Adobe announced plans to open in I floor. 2009 specification of the Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP), which is used in web development (for example, see the detailed guide on the organization of the broadcast server on Habré ).

Despite its original purpose, sometimes RTMP is used not only for video broadcasting. For example, it runs Adobe LiveCycle Data Services ES. According to some experts, after the discovery of RTMP, it can greatly push the free Comet protocol off the market.

RTMP specifications will be posted here .

RTMP is a proprietary protocol designed specifically for broadcasting multimedia content from the server to the Flash Player program on the client side. It has three flavors:

    1. A "clean" protocol that runs on top of TCP and uses port 1935.
    2. RTMPT, which is wrapped in HTTP to pass through firewalls.
    3. RTMPS, which works like RTMPT, but through a secure HTTPS connection.
