And again ICQ.

    image
I wanted to once again raise the topic of ICQ.
I understand that there are a lot of topics on this topic, but they are impoverished, but everyone scolds AOL.
I want to take the other side and talk a little about it.

So I don’t understand what to scold “AOL”. What he did? Trying to make money on what belongs to him? What's bad about it? We all do that. No one said that ICQ is an open protocol. So everything is all right. For example, after the last jambs with ICQ, I didn’t feel like waiting for a new qip (miranda or something else) to come out and I put icqlite on everyone at work. I looked at him and I don’t understand what was wrong there. Everything is beautiful, neat, everything works, intuitively. What scares everyone in him.

I read a lot of forums and blogs where the current situation with icq was discussed. Everybody scolded “AOL” and “scared” by the transition to jabber.

Well, if you so dislike the situation with icq, do your own but such that everyone goes there.
    For example:
Agree to all (if possible) developers of alternative clients about a new messaging service and build in their clients auto-registration in this service with the same number and password and transfer of the contact list, without asking everyone whether users want or not. I've looked at my contact list, for example, I have 95% on alternative clients, and I think everyone has it. Make a resource on which everything is clearly and clearly explained. Why and for what a new service is made. And when sending a message, look to see if there is such a number in the new service, if any, then send to it if not, then on icq with the same number and that's it, gradually icq will go down in history. And with simple calls to switch to jabber, no one will go anywhere.

Here is what I think about this. Waiting for comments.
