Education in Russia: what, why and what to do?

    image
I am an ordinary average student of the Russian Federation who comes to the climax of schooling. From childhood, my parents brought up in such a way that I realized myself - without a good education, it is very difficult to achieve anything worthwhile in life. I took my studies quite seriously, but I also did not come close to the place where the desire to study well borders on “botanism”. During the 11 years of study, he managed to change 5 schools, and began with the provincial school No. 11 of Berdsk and graduated from the Specialized Educational and Scientific Center at NSU (or simply Fiz-Mat School). All this I told you not to appreciate how well done I am, but to the fact that I went through different levels of education in our country. I am absolutely sure that the level of education of citizens is the basis of all the successes of the state and its position on the world stage. Therefore, I would like to see the environs of our educational institutions all sorts of Harvadras and Cambridges envious there, but are we approaching this or moving away? What is now with our education and why is it? I will try to speculate on this topic with you.

    What happens in elementary schools?

That’s how a regular student thinks about studying? If you ask him about this, he will answer that studying at the moment is most important for him and that he is happy to study, etc. But if you look at how the same students communicate on this topic, but only among themselves? The phrases “Why do I need this?”, “How did it bother me!”, “Hurry to work” or even more often “I’ll come home and get hacked into WoW, at least take a break from studying,” that is, learning for them is like penal servitude, as if they were not going to school for themselves, but for their parents and teachers. This duplicity can probably be explained by the fact that at home parents agitate their child to study well and because of respect for their parents, he agrees with this, but at the same time he wants to spend his time on other hobbies more interesting to him,

And if the students have already matured?

If a child treated elementary labor in elementary school, then in high school this feeling will only intensify due to the complexity of the material, an increase in the number of interests (friendship, love, sport). Therefore, for him, study will be secondary. But parents then want their child to get a good education, so they do everything for this, and most often this is manifested by the return of their child to some supposedly mega-prestigious school or lyceum. I got into one such mega prestigious lyceum, but in a different way: I passed entrance exams. The exams were quite complicated, I didn’t pass them, and they directly told me: “It's okay, training will cost N rubles.” We are not so rich that we can afford it, so we decided to try again, but in a less “cool” class. I passed the exams there.only a place to chat with friends.

I think that you understood the main idea: the student is not interested in the learning process .

But what is the state doing?

For several years now, the main reform in the field of education has been the introduction of the Unified State Exam. Honestly, the benefits of this are pretty dubious. Personally, I generally do not see the pluses from this, except it will be easier for me to take it. And here are a few minuses that came to my mind:
    • School number 2 of Dubinino village will pass the same exam as the SUNC of Moscow State University. It may be good for the school (students will study more diligently), but the SSC of Moscow State University will pass the exam, which is much easier than their usual educational program. Instead of studying some complicated material, they will spend time on how to choose the answer in the test, when, in principle, two of the four answers are correct.
    • Now is November 19th, and I still don’t know how the Unified State Exam will be given up. What subjects can I choose and how will this all happen. That is, there is a clear confusion in all of this.

And you can also look somewhat pessimistically at why the MoE introduces the Unified State Examination: now in all bookstores there is a special counter “Preparing for the Unified State Examination” or “Unified State Examination Options”; small books are worth 50 rubles; I wonder how much they earn on these books?

I will not agitate someone against the USE, but, in my opinion, the best option would be to choose the schools themselves to pass the USE or ordinary exams.

    What happened before?

The only criterion by which I can judge what the level used to be and what it is now is to compare the entrance exams of long and past years. I have a book "Entrance Exams at NSU" Authors: Belonosov, Fokin. There are introductory options starting in 1970. Honestly, I am terrified of the assignments of 1970-1993. After these years, there has been a frank decline in complexity. And even now, if you compare 2007 and 2006, you can see this regression.

    How to improve education?

Everything that will be written below, like what was written above, is just my opinion.
Being the Minister of Education, what have I done? And here is what:
    • Introduced narrow profile from grade 10 as a maximum. That is, the student has the right to choose what volume he needs to study. Note that I did not say that he can remove any objects at all, just reduce the depth of study.
    • In every possible way to agitate children to study and hint that all future life depends on what knowledge you will receive now.
    • Increase teacher salaries and introduce mandatory teacher certification (more on this below)
    • Provide schools with a choice of examinations

These are the main modifications that I would make.

    What about teachers?

Nowadays there are very few people whose calling is to teach. Now, teachers are whoever comes along. It is not for nothing that the well-known television show Our Russia chose the teacher’s communication with his students as one of the plot. If anyone does not know, then the main idea is that the teacher collects money from students for various events or textbooks, etc., by various methods, but doesn’t teach a damn thing. Honestly, I think that this is due to the fact that now it is not fashionable to be a teacher: they pay little, there is a low probability of promotion, communication with children for whom study is hard labor. Indeed, the one who teaches the future billionaire receives some miserable 10k rubles a month !!! Unfair, right?

    Conclusion

I’m scared ... There are less and less smart children on the streets. There are more and more hairy informals with American-style sneakers with the inscription “USA”. There are fewer scientists. Ballpoint pen sales managers are becoming more and more. Our universities in the world ranking are below 300 places. Will we be able to get out of this and is our government aware of the danger of this situation? Nothing depends on me alone, but maybe you can help me with this, huh? :)
