The computer of your dreams from a Google perspective

There is such a thing - Google Trends .
We’ll use it to find out which computer a Google user dreams of. After all, you use Google, right?

Google Trends shows how much this or that thing interests the public. He does this using statistics from search queries. Logically: what is more sought is the most interesting. Enter a few key phrases separated by commas, the graph will simultaneously display data for the first five.

    Desktop or laptop?

So, the first thing I would like to know is the physical parameters of the computer. Judging by the graphs, it will be a laptop. Desktops are becoming less and less interesting, which means they will buy less. Interest in the MakBook is growing, the MacBook Air spurred him on. However, so far his graph shows that he is unlikely to be able to catch up with ordinary laptops in popularity in the near foreseeable future. Netbooks are not perceived by the majority as the ultimate dream, this is obvious. At the same time, it is clear that netbooks "eat away" interest in laptops. So, perhaps, they will occupy a wider niche. The first conclusion: the "dream computer" is a laptop.

    CPU

What processor will be on board? Intel has a steady interest, and AMD is farther and farther from the leader. Can AMD create a dream processor? Let's see. In the meantime, the Intel processor, no options.

    Video card

Not only gamers need a powerful graphics card, so let's see what happens on this front. Wow! It is interesting that both lines seem to repeat each other. I think the explanation is simple: as soon as the new nVidia model comes out, they immediately begin to compare it with ATI, and vice versa. It can be seen that they go head to head, and it is impossible to say exactly which of these companies will supply the video card for the "dream computer". Well, that’s very good: producer competition is good for customers.

    operating system

Mac OS X has a consistently low level of interest. The explanation, from my point of view, is very simple. Apple customers do not perceive the OS separately from the computer; it is mainly interested in programmers.

The undisputed leader in the growth of interest is Ubuntu. You can see how each subsequent release increases interest in this OS. But with versions of Windows, everything is not so obvious.

The Vista release initially aroused interest in it, however, it remained at a consistently low level. Compared to it, the position of Windows XP is unshakable.

Well, obviously, either Ubuntu or Windows XP will be installed on the "dream computer".

    Programming language

What language will the programs for this computer be written in? Apparently not on Delphi. Obviously, interest in Java cannot be caused only by the island of Java, which means that the Java language is very popular. PHP is becoming less and less interesting, Rails and Django are running out of steam . C is not on the list because Google Trends cannot separate C from phrases containing the letter “C” (names, names), and the result cannot be interpreted. C ++ has a steady interest in its niche. We draw a cautious conclusion - the situation will not change much over time, and the languages popular today will also be used in the future.

    For what ?

Why will the computer turn on? This is an interesting question, and Google gives us a very interesting answer! First of all, it will be used to view pornography. Interest in this topic has increased significantly over the past year. It’s hard to say what this is connected with. Perhaps the financial crisis has such a side effect. In second place are games and films. The third is business. Moreover, interest in business falls with such powerful "failures" in the New Year. And finally, about programming. Interest is falling. This means that programmers must treat each other very carefully, because they are becoming smaller and smaller. Let's live in peace!

    conclusions

So, Google Trends says that the “dream computer” will be a laptop with Ubuntu or Windows XP, and it will be used mainly not for work. In general, quite interesting conclusions.

I hope this article has helped you become more familiar with the features of Google Trends. May the force be with you!
