The victory of the Russian team at CIPHER 4

    The HackerDom team from Ural State University took first place at CIPHER
    4 - the annual international CTF competitions held by the Aachen Technical University. This year 32 teams participated in the competition, including five Russian ones.
    The game took place on the night of August 1 to 2, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. (GMT + 5) on the Internet. On the game, teams were given an image for a virtual machine with installed OS and game services that contained various vulnerabilities: weak passwords, configuration error, buffer overflow, SQL and PHP injections, XSS, insufficient filtering of input parameters with further execution of arbitrary commands, etc. Game also included a task in which it was required to identify information hidden by steganography. Linux Ubuntu was used as the OS, and the services were written in various programming languages: Python, PHP, Perl, Haskel, C.
