Correct transliteration: domain names from Russian names
A question arose at the intersection of IT and language.
Are there any clear rules for transliteration of names, based on which it would be possible to unequivocally choose the spelling of domain names in transliteration for completely arbitrary Russian words?
Let me explain: you won’t get confused with the domain name for Pushkino - pushkino.ru (although the domain has already been bought not by the city, but by the bank). But what to do when the name (or another word that defines the domain name) contains the letters "b", "e", "s", "y" and other difficulties?
I offer several names for transliteration and ask to explain by what principle it was carried out by transliteration authors who want to unsubscribe here :)
I suggest practicing on the example of the names of the settlements of the Moscow Region (there are quite a few options): Zheleznodorozhny, Lyubertsy, Yurievo, Beloozersky, Mytishchi, Shcherbinka, Elektrostal. If you didn’t capture some “complex” combination with your examples, please ask in the comments.
If there are answers to this question - we will turn this post into a transliteration instruction.
PS And it’s not difficult to transliterate, but IT people will like it: maps.yandex.ru/map.xml?mapID=2000&mapX=4142968&mapY=7489952&scale=9&slices=2.3
