Barcodes and Life
That's about the latter and I want to talk separately.
A sample of the matrix barcode is shown in the figure:

Some are familiar, aren't they?
Now I’ll tell you how such an encoding can be used in the life of geeks.
For experiments, go to datamatrix.kaywa.com ,

drive in text and generate code, for example, my favorite “Hello world!”.
As a result, we get a picture with the code:

As you can see, you can generate the site address, text, phone number and SMS.
Next, follow the link in the upper right corner and download to your phone (of course with a camera), a program that can read the greeting you just received.
The program is on many models. In order to get it you need to register.

We install the program, run it, point the frame at the code:

and instantly, we get the result:

I highlighted several possible options for using this technology:
1. avatars on blogs - you can encode your email address or ICQ number, I think the spam bot will have a bit tight,
2. as an option, you can print such a barcode on a business card - you get a very geek business card,
3. protection against spam bots when registering on sites,
4. various invitations and brochures, announcements, advertising.
In a word, you can come up with a lot of interesting things.
Try it, use it.
UPD: To the one who is the first to say that it is encrypted in the very first code, I propose to raise karma.
UPD2: A similar thing is for iPhona - www.imatrix.lt
