Electronic Arts officially opened a company in Russia

Given the growing market for interactive entertainment, Electronic Arts (EA) , a world leader in the development and publication of interactive entertainment software, decided to focus its efforts on supporting Russian retail chains and users. In this regard, on July 26, 2007, the opening of EA in Russia was officially announced.

The opening of a new EA office in Moscow is another step in implementing the company's development strategy in Central and Eastern Europe and strengthens EA's global presence in more than 40 markets outside of North America.

EA intends to contribute to the formation and development of the fast-growing interactive entertainment market in Russia. EA’s Moscow office will focus on providing Russian users with a wider range of localized games, forging links with the gaming community, as well as closer cooperation with retail chains.

At the event, which was held July 26, 2007 in Moscow, EA hosted industry, business and media representatives and spoke about her plans to bring the best and latest innovations in the field of interactive entertainment to the Russian market. In particular, it was promised that later this year fully localized versions of the two most popular EA games among Russian users, namely Need for Speed and FIFA for the PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360 entertainment systems, will be released onto the market, which will expand the range of products already released in Russia localized PC games (here it is quite appropriate to recall the recent announcement of the game Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix based on the book of the same name and its movie version about the fearless wizard boy).

“Russia is a significant and promising area in the gaming industry,” said Peter Laughton, EA Vice President and CEO for Central and Eastern Europe. “This is a very dynamic market with world-class retail chains and users who are interested in interactive entertainment. We look forward to the moment when we can offer Russian players our most popular products created specifically for them: in Russian, using Russian music and attracting celebrities who are close and familiar to all Russian people. ”

The Russian video game market is currently valued at $ 250 million and is expected to more than double in the next three to five years. Along with interesting game content and active retail, an increase in the number of consoles, PCs and mobile phones with game functions contributes to the development of the game market.
