In addition to information about the new technology, Microsoft is beginning to actively use this standard directly to publish its videos. For example, in this format they published an advertisement on the new Xbox 360 Elite game console on their website (now it is no longer there).
The Xbox 360 Elite graphic banner led to a page dedicated to the game console. At the same time, in the upper left corner there is a small slogan: “Try it in Silverlight”. If you click on it, the plug-in is installed, and then the video is launched. It was a regular WMV in the Silverlight wrapper (WMV link ).
