The FileInfo.net site contains detailed information about thousands of file extensions. For each extension, a detailed description of this type of file and a list of programs with which you can open such a file in Windows, Mac OS and Linux are provided.
Extensions are grouped alphabetically and by file type (text, audio, video, etc.). You can immediately go to the desired extension through the search bar.
Firefox users can install a plugin to search for extensions; Mac users can install a similar widget .
