As I studied the demand function for harem pants

In the nineties, “trousers” were constantly discussed as a sure way to make money on the Internet “with your own mind”. Many students and schoolchildren made their first programs on their knees and tried to publish them in software catalogs. I started practicing “harem pants” from the first year (autumn of 1998), without losing hope of making an ever successful product.

Once, having created stable versions of my programs, I published them wherever I could. The result was an interesting picture - the program was constantly downloaded, more and more new people visited my personal page, but no one bought anything.

From hopelessness, I decided to experiment - to approximately build the demand function for my program. Decisively increasing the percentage of discounts and thereby reducing the price of the program, I did not see the continuity in the schedule.

At the point of "freebie" there was a peculiarity - a huge number of "buyers" would download the program for free, but none of them would pay a penny even for my more "advanced" product.

Above we spoke only about Russia. Abroad, I managed to sell java applets for $ 12 each.

Conclusion: in Russia there is a specific market, buyers and users, the key word for which is “FREE”!
