Blogging is ten years old. Father is unknown

On April 1, 2007, the phenomenon of online blogging marks exactly ten years. At least, some researchers think so. There is no consensus among them who owns the world's very first “periodic review of the web with links.”

Once upon a time, the first sites appeared on the Internet that were in the form of a web diary with links. At that time, no one called these sites blogs. According to one version , the very first blog in its modern form opened on April 1, 1997. It was the Scripting News site., and soon he will celebrate his decade. The author of this blog is Dave Winer, one of the developers of such well-known technologies as RSS, podcasting and content management systems (CMS). Dave is probably the biggest contender to be the proud father of blogging. At least his site is definitely the oldest of the current blogs on the Internet.

Here they are, the very first messages dated April 1997.

After Wiener, a real revolution began. In September 1997, Slashdot opened, and in December of that year for the first time the new word “weblog” was heard on the Internet, later shortened to a simple “blog” and entered into all dictionaries. Today, the number of blogs on the Web exceeds one hundred million.
