GLONASS will receive in double size

In 2007, four billion rubles will be allocated for the development of the Russian global navigation satellite system (GLONASS), which is twice as much as in 2006. This was announced by State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov at a meeting with employees of the Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City.

According to him, the full-scale use of GLONASS, which will seriously expand the use of navigation services, will begin in 2009. By this time, 24 spacecraft included in the system will operate in orbit.

GLONASS will serve not only domestic consumers of navigation services - for example, in January an agreement was signed on its joint use by India.
