Management "K" liquidated more than 100 sites

Office "K" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation yesterday announced some data that made it clear that it is observing the Runet quite carefully, although this, perhaps, is not always noticeable from the outside. According to Anton Kuznetsov, deputy head of the K department, over the past year, the department has closed more than a hundred sites in the Ru zone, Regnum reports .

It is known why the resources were eliminated: 28 - for disseminating extremist information aimed at inciting various kinds of hostility; 27 - for harming a person by publishing personal or libelous information; 24 - for the distribution of counterfeit goods. The largest group of "confiscated" sites were those that were trafficked by child pornography.

The idea popular in the Western press that Runet is the focus of prohibited materials, including child porn, is more like a prejudice, said Kuznetsov. He argued this with data: of the 995 received reports to the Office of “K” about the spread of this kind of porn, only 4.5% confirmed its presence - the remaining “suspected” sites were outside the Ru domain. “The Russian segment of the Internet is far from the most dangerous for users,” the expert said, urging not to exaggerate crime rates.

At the same time, Kuznetsov believes that it is too early to talk about victory over “aggressive” content. In 2007, the agency plans to closely monitor home networks, because "there is a high probability that they are distributed prohibited materials and counterfeit."
