Mail.Ru Agent for mobiles released

Mail.Ru made a novelty today - it introduced a special version of the Internet pager "Agent", designed for mobile phones. The version has the status of "beta", and the company encourages it to actively test.

It is reported that the mobile "Agent" for Java 1.0 contains all the basic functions of a "stationary" program, including the ability to search for contacts and view profiles. The application also provides for free SMS sending. You can communicate with users of all versions of the Internet pager.

According to the developer, the mobile version of the "Agent" is compatible with most mobile phones that support J2ME applications (Java 2 Micro Edition). Installation on a smartphone is also possible - the program supports touch screen and stylus.

Commenting on the news release, Mail.ru CEO Dmitry Grishin noted that the concept of “mobility + online presence” is becoming more popular. He explained that mobile services are one of the strategically important areas for the company: “At least the fact that the mobile communications market is several times larger than the Internet market in terms of audience reach indicates the prospects of this area. In my opinion, now is a very good moment for active actions in this area, since both the mobile phone fleet and the user are ready for the arrival of mobile messengers. ”
