Currently, Facebook remains one of the most popular tools for advertisers. If before Facebook showed ads on third-party sites only to its users, now the company will begin to show ads to outsiders.

A change in marketing policy can help a company increase the amount of advertising on the network. Along with this, Facebook will increase competition with Google in the online advertising market, as the search engine traditionally sells advertising on third-party sites to advertisers.

“Publishers and application developers are interested in users who may not be Facebook users. It seems to us that we can potentially work better with this type of advertising. Previously, our banners collected only general information about registered users, and now we will do this for all users.

We have a base of more than 1 billion active Facebook users, which we know and understand very well. That is why we have more opportunities to do this using a similar mechanism with third-party users compared to other companies, ”said Andrew Bosworth, vice president of advertising and business platforms for Facebook.

In 2015, Facebook received $ 17 billion in advertising revenue, and in 2016 this figure should only grow. As part of advertising, Facebook takes away 30% of the profits from the publishers. Despite the large commission from the owners of sites and other platforms there is no choice because of the huge user base and the popularity of Facebook.

In preparation for changes in advertising policy, Facebook has changed the conditions for the use of cookies. Now they indicate the possibility of displaying personalized ads for both social network users and unregistered users. According to Facebook, social network users and ordinary visitors to sites will be able to turn off the display of personalized ads based on their interests.
