In Russia, developed road signs for unmanned vehicles
Next to the drone are recommended to go carefully, without sudden movements
The Russian company Cognitive Technologies with the design studio Artemy Lebedev presented the draft road signs for unmanned vehicles.
In total, three signs have been developed:
- "The beginning of the road section with the participation of unmanned vehicles."
- "The end of the road section with the participation of unmanned vehicles."
- "Attention, on the site unmanned vehicles."
On roads with unmanned vehicles, drivers are advised to abandon abrupt rebuilds, as well as to especially follow distance maintenance so as not to create stressful situations for an unmanned vehicle.
“Road signs for drones should have a simple symbolic range and succinctly convey the essence of the message, without causing motorists to false associations and mixing with other generally accepted signs ,” said Andrey Chernogorov, CEO of Cognitive Technologies.
After coordination with the state traffic inspectorate, these signs are planned to be commissioned by 2018, when Russian-made unmanned vehicles will appear on Russian roads (including on specially designated lanes).
It is reported that, first of all, such signs will be installed in Moscow, the Moscow Region and the Republic of Tatarstan - this is where the testing of unmanned vehicles will begin.
Cognitive Technologies is a well-known developer of machine vision systems and unmanned vehicle control systems. This year, the company tested the first unmanned tractor in Russia on the fields of Tatarstan .
Cognitive Technologies together with PJSC "KAMAZ" for almost two years, leads a project to create an unmanned truck (KAMAZ project on the site of Cognitive Technologies). According to the project, for the period from July 01, 2016 to December 31, 2016, the fifth final stage of the plan implementation was designed - the development of an experimental model of a software package. At this time, a software system should be created that can analyze the road scene, identify and predict dangerous situations, have integration with cartographic systems, integration with auxiliary sensors (sensors for determining distance, speed and geometric parameters, creating a three-dimensional picture of the environment, fixing vibrations) , detect obstacles in the lane, determine the positions of road users active with respect to the vehicle, etc.
The Artemy Lebedev Studio is also well known: its founder maintains one of the most popular personal blogs in Russia , and the studio itself has long been engaged in high-quality and expensive industrial design.
Reportedly, signs were developed in accordance with GOST R 52290-2004 and other standards on road signs adopted in Russia. Despite strict compliance with standards, the sign of an unmanned vehicle for some reason, some commentators cause associations with the car, distributing WiFi.
