Facebook is testing a feature that warns about the use of your data by other users.
The social network is working on a new tool that will automatically alert the user if it is discovered that someone else is using his name and photos. Facebook users will receive notifications in which it will be necessary to determine whether their personal information is used in a third-party profile. The tool is being tested since last November, and is currently being prepared for release for 75 percent of the audience, according to thenextweb .
Although the notification process is automated, profiles that are flagged as “fake” are still manually reviewed by the Facebook team. Such pages are not the most serious problem, however they are subject to harassment, and also fall under the social network policy to use genuine names.
“When communicating with users, we learned that women are worried about this, because in some regions of the world fake can cause serious reputational damage,” said Antigone Davis, head of global security at Facebook.
