"Electronics" will release a smartphone and tablet completely Russian assembly

Igor Kozlov, CEO of Roselectronic holding, told about plans to produce a budget smartphone and tablet entirely Russian assembly worth no more than $ 200.

The Kaluga Telegraph Equipment Plant (KZTA) will be responsible for the hull design, the Cyclone Central Research Institute for the production of OLED displays, several other enterprises of the Ruselectronics holding for the production of electronic component base.

Igor Kozlov believes that it is necessary to equip civil servants and public-sector employees: doctors, teachers, policemen, soldiers, etc. with domestic smartphones. According to Rosstat, there are 14 million public sector employees in the country, so Roselectronika plans to reach sales of 10 million smartphones per year two years after the start of sales.

Everything is almost ready to start production, lacking only the operating system and processor.

Until now, only YotaPhone has claimed the title of a Russian smartphone.- a smartphone worth 20,000 rubles. with two screens, Android OS, on Qualcomm processors. Igor Kozlov is sure that in the domestic smartphone the operating system must be Russian-made. However, if within three years Russian companies cannot develop it, they will have to make a smartphone based on Android OS with Chinese or Taiwanese processors.

Igor Kozlov expressed the opinion that the domestic OS can be created on the basis of the open source system Sailfish, which is being developed by the Finnish company Jolla. To finance this and other priority projects on import substitution of domestic software, the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media requested 18 billion rubles from the budget last year.

With processors, the situation is even more complicated, because in Russia there is not a single plant capable of producing chips with a production technology of 28 nanometers. For example, the Russian manufacturer of processors "Baikal Electronics" therefore produces chips in Asia.

By the way, Igor Kozlov headed "Roselectronics" a few weeks ago. The holding has the task to increase the production of radio components at times, increase management efficiency and take a worthy place among the leading world companies, increase the share of revenue from civilian products from 20% to 50%. The holding "Ruselectronics" now includes 123 enterprises.
