Data centers to choose from: London, Moscow, Zurich, St. Petersburg

Partly sanctions, partly the growth of the technology business, partly the growth of the income of this very business formed in Russia the conditions for the development of commercial data centers. If earlier it was possible to grin bitterly at SLA, wait for the online store on the underlying server, actually trust the provider “in the dark”, then today the business forms a request for exceptionally high-quality services, and the data centers tend to comply.

The market is becoming significantly more stable, key players are forming. And most importantly, there are technically advanced data centers, which even 5 years ago it was impossible to even think about. Guys, whether we like it or not (of course, we want!), But this is the world of storing new level data and the world of data without borders - in the truest sense of the word. And where do your data prefer to work?

According to iKS-Consulting , in 2018 the number of racks in Russian commercial data centers increased by 16% - to almost 40 thousand units. The pace of capacity increase reached the pre-crisis level. According to analysts, the main contribution to this growth - more than 73% - was made by IXcellerate, Rostelecom-DPC, GeenBushDC, DataPro and Avantage.

The Russian hosting market continues to consolidate. This allows service providers to benefit from synergies and volume savings. Now in Russia there is a process of consolidation, the main players stand out. The level of consolidation is currently still low, but will grow.

Revenue dynamics in the market of commercial data centers in the Russian Federation, billion rubles According to IKS Consulting.

At the same time, the demands of Russian users are growing. For example, if some foreign providers do not have round-the-clock support seven days a week (24/7), then in Russia this is the standard, and if the hosting company does not offer such a service, it will not last long. In addition, the hosting provider’s area of responsibility is expanding. In Russia, he must have broad competence in related subjects and help customers beyond their current responsibilities.

Leading hosting providers expand their sites using the resources of the best Russian data centers. Thus, within the framework of the development of its strategy, the hosting provider RUVDS put into operation its own pressure zone in the Linxdatacenter data center in St. Petersburg. At the same time, the prices for VPS services in the northern capital do not differ from the prices for virtual servers in RUVDS data centers - in London , Moscow and Zurich , where the VPS provider, with the support of Huawei in Russia, created a TIER IV pressure containment zone.

RUVDS hosting provider is one of the twenty largest IaaS service providers according to the rating " CNews Analytics: The Largest IaaS Providers in Russia 2018 ". In 2017, our company's revenue from the provision of IaaS services increased by 182%. This growth is associated primarily with an increase in the number of cloud services provided by us.

We also have quite rare offers for the Russian market. For example, RUVDS, with the support of an insurance broker, Pure Insurance insures in one of the largest insurance companies in the world - AIG - its responsibility to clients for unauthorized public disclosure of personal data and corporate information. In the list of services there is a solution for the anti-virus protection of virtual servers running Windows Server. This is Kaspersky Security for Virtualization Light Agent (light agent for virtual environments).

Now RUVDS offers its clients virtual servers located in the largest data center in St. Petersburg today Linxdatacenterat St. Petersburg, st. Repishchev, d. 20A. We have already written about our other sites more than once. Now we will tell more about the St. Petersburg data center, which received a number of prestigious certificates.

The Linxdatacenter data processing center in St. Petersburg is the largest data center network in this company. Its sites are also located in Moscow, Tallinn and Warsaw. According to parameters such as the total area (9000 m2) and maximum energy consumption (12 MW), this is one of the largest data centers in Russia.

Operation of the data center requires a constant audit of processes and documentation on industry standards, refinement of instructions for all working situations. Without the experience of such work, the management of the data center at the proper level is impossible.

In 2018, Linxdatacenter confirmed that the quality of the data center management in St. Petersburg complies with the requirements of Uptime Institute (Uptime Institute Management & Operations) operational sustainability. Thus, Linxdatacenter became the only data center in Russia with a valid M & O Stamp of Approval certificate.

This type of certification is becoming popular in our market. Several data centers are currently in the process of undergoing M & O. For Linxdatacenter M & O certificationhas become a priority. Serious attention was paid to site preparation, documentation refinement and employee training. The whole project took about three years. He demanded major changes in workflows. Compliance with this standard can significantly reduce the likelihood and severity of incidents.

The Linxdatacenter data center also has certificates ISO 27001, ISO 9001, PCI DSS, certified by the FSTEC for personal data storage. For banking organizations, retailers and enterprises processing personal data and associated with plastic cards, the availability of PCI DSS certificate is one of the most important factors when choosing a data center. The requirements of the standard are mandatory for compliance with any companies working with the largest payment systems, and guarantee protection against theft of customer information and other fraudulent transactions.

The Dutch company Linxdatacenter officially opened the Tier III level data center in St. Petersburg in 2011. Investments in its creation exceeded 20 million euros. The data center is designed in accordance with international standards for the construction of data centers and using environmentally friendly technologies to minimize environmental impact.

DPC Linxdatacenter total area (at that time) of 7.5 thousand square meters. m. located in the business center Sky Trade.

Linxdatacenter also acts as a telecom operator; its fiber-optic channel connects the data center with the SPB-IX communication center. Therefore, Linxdatacenter has direct access to this main trunk hub in the North-West region of Russia, which, in turn, is directly connected to the MSK-IX node.

The data center is equipped with two independent optical routes to traffic exchange points and is connected to more than 15 telecom operators. The company's own communications network covers all major European capitals, including Helsinki, Tallinn, Stockholm, Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, Budapest, Bucharest and others.

Linxdatacenter data center was conceived as a comfortable platform for customers, ensuring uninterrupted operation and aimed at maximum results. Part of the data center halls is equipped with modules with an isolated cold corridor.

The main energy supply is provided by two gas piston power plants equipped with high-performance gas turbines. The diesel power station and the city power grid serve as backup power sources. Thus, the data center energy supply is received from two gas piston stations, and one backup city input. In essence, the power supply is backed up according to the 3N scheme.

Another feature of the data center is the use of absorption chillers (chillers). For their work, the heat generated by the gas piston power plant is used. Chillers cool water by consuming very little electricity. Such solutions, along with the use of the technology of natural cooling (free cooling), when a dry cooling tower is used when the ambient temperature drops below +5 degrees, allow us to achieve high energy efficiency of the data center. Its estimated PUE coefficient is 1.33 at full load.

Log in to the data center for customers. The data center is equipped with robust physical security systems, including advanced identification and access control tools. PPC - bulletproof glass. Directly to the machine rooms through the turnstile can only be authorized persons. The data center uses a multi-level security system, including access control 24/7 and an electronic pass system.

Linxdatacenter has six levels of physical access control and security. Security staff work around the clock and bypass the object every 2 hours. All premises and the territory of the data center are viewed through the internal and external surveillance cameras, video about what is happening in the data center is transmitted around the clock to the monitors of the security service.

The data center provides a comfortable area for negotiations and recreation.

Along the perimeter of the machine rooms are installed units of air conditioners with heat exchangers. The water circulating through them cools the air supplied under the raised floor, which further through the perforated tiles of the raised floor enters the cold corridor. The average consumption is 7 kW per rack. To increase the heat sink applied means local cooling.

The StruxureWare Monitoring Package supports several basic and advanced real-time visualization schemes with functions for sending notifications and generating reports on the state of the engineering infrastructure and power supply systems, cooling, security and IT infrastructure of the data center.

Fire safety is monitored by a VESDA smoke detection system and an automatic gas fire extinguishing system. The fire extinguishing is done in the classic way: sensors, gas cylinders and yellow pipes.

Gas extinguishing station. Used gas FM200. Gas reserves are designed to extinguish a fire in the largest room. If any signs of combustion products are detected, a corresponding signal is sent to the control room.

The data center uses equipment exclusively with Class A energy consumption. Reservation is made according to the 2N scheme. All equipment has two power inputs, each of which is independently equipped with a UPS and a backup power supply from a diesel generator.

Under the raised floor there is a busbar to power the equipment. The redundancy scheme of the 2N power supply system is provided down to the equipment cabinets.

Uninterruptible power supplies are capable of maintaining data center autonomy for 15 minutes.

Backup data center power supply provided by diesel generators and UPS. After starting the diesel generator, the equipment goes to operating capacity in a minute, after which the data center starts to be powered by a diesel generator set, and not from batteries.

The data center is equipped with three diesel generator sets (DGU) Cummins with redundancy according to the scheme N + 1. The contracts for the supply of fuel for the DGU with two independent suppliers of petroleum products.

If the power is lost from the gas piston power plants, then the automation transfers the load to the UPS and batteries. 400 batteries provide 15 minutes of battery life when the data center is fully loaded. Most of the equipment used is from the Schneider Group.

Along with equipment placement services, provision of dedicated and virtual servers, data center services include managed data center services such as IaaS, backup operating centers, data storage and backup services, data security, hosting, equipment rental and remote maintenance.

This is what the cloud really looks like. Each cabinet is equipped with a managed PDU, patch panels for copper and optical cables.

According to the global analytical agencies, the cost of data centers in 2019 will amount to $ 16 billion (IDC). And by the end of 2018, 60% of all companies in the world used in their work resources of highly developed technological data centers. In the Russian market, according to forecasts, by the middle of this year several hundred racks will be put into operation. In general, in 2019, it is expected to commission about three thousand racks, and in 2020 - 2.35 thousand.

The new RUVDS site is designed to provide clients with the services of renting virtual servers VPS / VDS, and VPS services in St. Petersburg are available to the company's customers at the same low prices. They are focused primarily on the corporate segment: government agencies, banks, stock market players. RUVDS also has its own TIER III data center in Korolev (Moscow region), pressure zones at Interxion data centers in Zurich (Switzerland), Equinix LD8 in London (United Kingdom), and MMTS-9 (Moscow, Russia). All germozones meet the level of reliability not lower than TIER III, and the high speed of work and flexible tariff plans make the service attractive for customers.
