Microsoft launches a large-scale educational initiative in Russian universities
Within the framework of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, Microsoft in Russia announced the expansion of cooperation with leading Russian universities. The company will open a number of master's programs in relevant technological areas: artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, business intelligence and the Internet of things. This will be the first element of a set of educational initiatives that Microsoft plans to implement in Russia.
As part of the forum, Microsoft signed an Agreement of Intent with one of the program participants - the Higher School of Economics.
“We decided to focus the new master's program on a very important topic for the economy - the training of managers who, using the most modern world developments in the field of artificial intelligence, will provide a fundamentally new way of developing education and science in Russia. Starting in September 2019, joint master's programs with Microsoft will also be opened at the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), the Moscow City Pedagogical University (MGPU), the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), and Northeast Federal University named after . Students of all master's programs will have the opportunity to undergo practice in the format of Microsoft hackathons, which involve the creation of projects in real time with the support and mentoring of technology experts from the company. These projects will subsequently be able to claim the status of final qualification works.
