Yandex awarded the first scientists named after Ilya Segalovich to young scientists and supervisors

Yesterday, April 10, at the Yandex Moscow office, the first winners of the Ilya Segalovich Prize , created this year to support young researchers and the scientific community of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, were awarded . In the three months since the launch of the award, 262 applications came from young specialists and scientific leaders, which could be put forward by their students and graduate students. The Prize Council selected nine top young researchers and four research advisors. The youngest laureate is only twenty one years old.

Students and graduate students who became laureates of the award will receive 350 thousand rubles each and the opportunity to attend an international conference on artificial intelligence, a personal mentor and an internship in the Yandex Research Department, the leaders won 700 thousand rubles each.

Young scientists who received an award for their contribution to computer science:

Eduard Gorbunov, graduate student of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
Carries out research in the field of machine learning, deals with optimization problems. He published the results of his research on NeurIPS (Neural Information Processing Systems). The supervisor is Alexander Gasnikov.

Valentin Khrulkov, post-graduate student of Skoltech
Works in the field of machine learning and is engaged in research in the field of evaluation of generative models and theoretical analysis of recurrent neural network models. His work has been published in ICML and ICLR. Supervisor - Ivan Oseledets. It is interesting that Valentine studied at the school with Lena Bunina.

    Marina Munkhoeva, graduate student Skoltech
Marina conducts research in the field of natural language processing and machine learning, and also deals with nuclear methods and graph embeds, and her master's work was devoted to translating into low corpus languages. One of her articles is published on NeurIPS. Academic Supervisor - Ivan Oseledets

Anastasia Popova, student at the Yandex and HSE School of Data Analysis in Nizhny Novgorod
Anastasia conducts research in the field of natural language processing and machine learning, classifies emotions in speech, using approaches adopted for image analysis. Also in her area of interest are various approaches to compression of neural networks. Supervisor - Alexander Ponomarenko.

Alexander Korotin, graduate student of Skoltech and a graduate of ShAD
He works in the field of machine learning, is engaged in research in the application of neural networks in online machine learning and time series analysis. The supervisor is Evgeny Burnaev.

    Andrey Atanov, graduate
student at the Higher School of Economics and Skoltech Carries out research in the field of machine learning, deals with Bayesian methods and deep neural networks. He published two works on the ICLR, which could not leave the members of the Award Council indifferent. Supervisor - Dmitry Vetrov.

    Alexandra Malysheva, graduate
student of the Higher School of Economics. Conducts research in the field of machine learning. Engaged in RL and even organized a reading group for him in St. Petersburg. Engaged in tracking objects on video. Supervisor - Alexey Shpilman from JetBrains Research.

Pavel Goncharov, undergraduate Gomel State Technical University named after P.O. Sukhoi
Conducts research in the field of machine learning and computer vision. Currently, Pavel is engaged in the recognition of plant diseases from images, is keen on using ML in physics, understands DL and is engaged in reconstruction of the trajectory of elementary particles. The supervisor is Gennady Ososkov.

    Arip Asadulaev, ITMO undergraduate
Carries out research in the field of machine learning. Engaged in memory networks and RL. This year he plans to publish his results on NeurIPS and ICML, which is a very good result for a first-year undergraduate. The supervisor is Evgeny Burnaev.
