Action programming games - entertainment or a way to introduce children to algorithms and robotics
Usually, when parents hear the phrase “teaching children programming and robotics,” they imagine lessons in circles or a school or sitting at a computer / tablet with educational software or a book.
But many parents do not know that there are board games that are built on the mechanics of “programming” actions and which, during the game, instill in the children the basics of algorithms, logic, building programs, etc., and some of them are even declared as educational. Some additionally provide the basics of robotics.
Below I will give examples of action programming games (educational and not only) that can be bought in Russia? They can and should be used to not only explain to children the algorithms and even robotics, but also just have fun and have fun with your family. I do not intentionally give links (this is not an advertisement) - all games are searched in the search by their names and they can be bought in different stores (both online and offline). If you don’t find it, ask me in the comments and I will give links.
A game (if I'm the author of it), which combines short battles with fun excitement. You have to survive in 10 rounds in the arena against the fighting robots of your rivals, I program them for movement and strikes with protection. Despite its apparent simplicity, the board game has laid the foundations of flowcharts, hardware limitations of robots, complex software constructs (including subroutines), and even logical constructions. There are a lot of instructional videos on the game website, rules parsing, and summer plays to help you. The game will be useful both at home and in classes in circles and schools. You can play with bots even one. 1-4 players 6-12 years old.
Now comes the continuation of the game “Card League of Parobot”.
One of the few board games that teaches programming from early childhood (but can be boring for children over 10 years old). With it, children will learn what algorithms are, how to build and apply them in practice, controlling all-terrain vehicles on a multi-level field. The game trains logic, strategic thinking, mindfulness and imagination. 3D field, planet rovers, teleporters and you are at the remote control in the Mission Control Center.
Classics of the genre and its initiator. Players will control the programmable robots and bring them through the control points to the finish line. Skillfully chosen strategy and cunning will help to beat competitors and win a difficult victory in this dangerous match. The key to the start! Unfortunately, not in Russian: (Although the game has been reprinted by Khasbro, according to experience it “makes” the brain for players over 12 years old and is not recommended for children under 10 years old.
So that people do not forget the classic Dandy, the developers moved the legendary game from the console to the cardboard. Here everything is the same as in the original Tanchiki, even the graphics are absolutely the same. Table Tanch players compete with each other, giving them commands and falling under fire from enemy bots.
In Colt Express, players act as gangsters in the Wild West who rob a train. The party lasts five rounds, each round is divided into two phases: planning and robbery. During Planning, players program from 2 to 5 robber actions, and during Robbery, actions are activated one after the other in the order in which the cards were laid out. The task of the bandits to collect the prey and bypass Marshal. There are no robots or guided tanks, but the Robbers are classic multithreaded performers.
