Ask a question to the author of Lua
This Sunday, the Lua in Moscow 2019 conference was held at the office of Mail.ru Group . The guest star was Roberto Jerusalem, one of the creators of the Lua language, a leading architect and author of training materials. Under his strict guidance, the language has been developing since the distant 1993, so Roberto can be called one of the pillars of the Lua community. He has already performed with us three times: Lua Workshop 2014 , Mitap in Mail.ru 2016 , Lua in Moscow 2017 .
And this year, Roberto did not fly home right after the conference, but will come to visit us on March 6 at the invitation of the Tarantool team. We want to ask Roberto questions that concern us and invite us to "join" us virtually. Write in the comments what you would like to ask the patriarch about the current state of Lua and the prospects for the development of the language. We will include the most interesting questions in the interview.
And so that there is no duplication, under the cut you will find a list of questions that we have prepared on our own.
- If you could create the Lua language from scratch, what three things would you do differently?
- What interesting features are there in Lua development plans?
- What do you think about singularity?
- Why is there no Lua
catch...finally
? And why notcontinue
? - As your favorite editor for Lua code you use
vim
. Why? What pluginsvim
do you like? - Do you prefer a light or dark theme in graphical interfaces? :)
You can read the full interview with Roberto in one of the upcoming publications.
