Sony bought a video by a Russian artist and blocked it on YouTube (again)
Today I wrote to Alexei Shamraev, a resident of the Moscow region. I wrote after I read the article. Sony is pursuing an author whose video she used in her video : Alexey has the same story.
First, someone bought the video Real Love Story , and then used it as a basis for a clip of the singer Pedro Lima (video is already closed), and immediately after that Sony Music Entertainment recorded video on YouTube ContentID and blocked the original.
Aleksey’s appeal was rejected by the “copyright holder”, which is actually the artist himself.
Under the cut - a chronology of events: a story about how YouTube in controversial situations takes the side of a large company.

YouTube sometimes blocks videos in a very strange way. For example, in 2012, a video about the landing of the Curiousity rover was blocked by a private news agency, and recordings of Martin Luther King's speeches could not be found because of the fussing EMI lawyers.
In October 2015, I wrote about the video artist Mitch Martinez , who granted Sony Music Entertainment a license to use his work, and the music company issued this work as his own and blocked the monetization of the original video on YouTube. Martinez published the original video in 2013, and the Transviolet music video for the song Bloodstream appeared only in August 2015.
In July 2015, Alex shot a video for another project. This is a sand animation in which anyone who buys it can insert their own text and get a finished romantic video. He then published it for sale in his profile on the highway and on the Youtube channel as an advertisement. Alexey Shamraev sells licenses for his works, remaining the owner of copyright. Someone at Sony decided that this was not important, and after using the video for the music video Pedro Lima demanded that YouTube block the repeated videos, including the original.
YouTube’s first complaint was answered, “The copyright holder has reviewed your complaint and confirmed his complaint about your video.”
The author turned directly to the musician on Facebook , a representative of the singer talked to Alexei. She said that their designer bought this video on videohive, and that she could send a copy of the purchase license. Alexey replied that they can broadcast this video, but cannot act as the owner of copyright and block related videos. And he pointed to the 19th paragraph of the videohive license, which says that the copyright is reserved by the author of the project, and you are granted a license to use . The singer’s representative apologized and said that she would inform VEVO in the near future about this misunderstanding and talk about the results.

There was no Response over the next ten days.
Alex wrote on YouTube asking him to remove the video from ContentID due to violation of copyrights and rights of other buyers of the work. However, the author did not demand to remove the musician’s video clip. He attached documents and one of the original versions of the video to the letter.
What did YouTube answer?
After that, Alex decided to write VEVO directly on the site - but the page in Russia does not work.
On January 18, 2016, a video based on Real Love Story was blocked on another YouTube channel. On February 13, the video on the PedroLimaVEVO channel was removed from public access, but returned three days later. There was no response from VEVO at that time.
On February 18, the video clip was again hidden, and February 24, 2016 finally received a response from YouTube:
Justice has not yet triumphed, as the video is blocked to this day. The original video was automatically unlocked after the appeal was not considered within 30 days. Alexey did not receive any answers, and the video from ContentID has not been deleted.

The only thought was - What kind of nonsense is this happening ?! Once again I wrote this singer on Facebook and said that I would send DMCA complaints wherever they posted this video - YouTube, AppleStore, Google Play, etc.
