Intel Xeon E3 v5 - Skylake for the server
Just six months ago, we announced the appearance of the first sixth generation Intel Core processors (Skylake). And now, very quickly, given the scale of the development process, Skylake for servers appeared in the person of the younger Intel Xeon series - E3. You can study the entire E3 v5 line in detail on the Intel ARC website , it is quite extensive, so v4 turned out to be a passing stage. The main differences compared to its predecessors:
To date, there are already at least several servers running Intel Xeon E3 v5, for example I can cite the HPE ProLiant DL20 Generation9 . So you can get a little Skylake in your server room now.
- increased frequency of the system bus and the speed of data exchange with memory;
- support for DDR4;
- Support for Intel Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX) and Intel Memory Protection Extensions (Intel MPX).
