Spend $ 5,900 in a freemium toy? Not a problem

Passwords should be as complex as possible, they have been talking and writing about this for many years. However, users skip such tips. And it’s completely in vain - after all, it’s not just someone’s account from Vkontaktika that can be hacked, the user can suffer financially.

This is not just about intruders. For example, a seven-year-old child in a UK resident remembers his father’s password from Apple ID. Children in general remember everything perfectly and quickly understand, but here, apparently, the password was still not too complicated. Having remembered the password, the smart son got access to the finances of his parent.

And since the boy was playing Jurassic World on the iPad, finance was found. The toy itself is distributed according to the freemium model, that is, it is free, but inside there is a lot of paid content. The child decided to purchase, and in just a week, from December 13 to December 18 last year, he spent almost $ 6,000.

The unlucky father at first decided that he was hacked, because he was sure that only he knew the password. After the transactions were identified, his father sent his dissatisfaction towards Apple. According to the Englishman, the company had to either understand that a 32-year-old person would not spend large sums on virtual dinosaurs, or at least send him an e-mail with a warning.

Apple now has no complaints - the company returned the money to the gamer's father. And here again it is worth remembering that the password should be made more complicated, and authorization would not hurt to put a two-factor. In addition, it is sometimes worth checking your mail, spam section - some important messages get there.
