Confidence or Crash Runner 250

Welcome all. I am one of the few in our team who has never controlled a quadrocopter, and I know everything only theoretically. And then I decided to correct this situation by ordering myself, no less, no more, Walkera Runner 250.

All descriptions and reviews warn that it is impossible to learn how to operate this unit, if you have never had such a technique before. But I am a proud and self-confident “challenge accepted”.

And so, “day x” came and my first quadrocopter came to me. Joy and delight was over the edge.

I liked the design in the form of a neat little suitcase.

Inside the box, everything is still neat, stylish and comfortable.

I ordered myself a version of Basic 2, which comes with a complete set:

    • Quadrocopter Walkera Runner 250.
    • Devo 7 control panel.
    • 4 screws (unfortunately, manufacturers do not provide spare parts in the kit. This is very reckless of them, given that this is a racing quadrocopter).
    • Adapter.
    • GA005 charger (on which there are two connectors for a 2-can 7.4V and a 3-can 11.1V battery, but the manufacturer asks not to use both at the same time).
    • Training cable (used to connect to another remote or to connect to your PC).
    • Charger adapter for sockets used in the USA.
    • Battery 2200mAh / 11.1V
    • Rubber layer (used when securing the battery so that it does not crawl when piloting).
    • English manual for a quick start.
    • CD with manuals for different types of Devo remote controls.
    • Small toolbox

    Characteristics
    Size (cm.): 22.5x20.5x9.2
    Flight time (min.): 12 - 14
    Weight (g.): 530
    Max take-off weight (g.): 600
Max horizontal speed (km / h): up to 45
    Flight range (m): 300
    Charging (min.): 120

So, having charged the battery, I decided to try to turn it on. I put the battery in, connected it, and ... and nothing ... the engines ran out, the headlights lit up, but the red taillights (as in other people's video reviews) did not blink.

I had to surf the Internet, look for a solution to the problem, but alas, no one came across this. I tried to turn it on again and again, sometimes it worked, but it happened 1 out of 15 or more.

It was starting to strain. How so, why me? I also noticed that when trying to turn on the engines sometimes did not work out. It occurred to me that somewhere, perhaps, the contact group was broken and it came to opening the patient, or rather, easily disassembling and checking all the contacts.

Having removed everything, reconnected the engines, disconnected and reconnected the receiver, the main controller and, in any case, the video signal transmitter. But all in vain.

Suspicion fell on a thin ribbon cable, which, at the factory assembly, was folded at an acute angle.

The diagnosis was made: the controller does not work out the signal when checking all systems. The reason is either in the main controller board itself, or in the aforementioned loop.

But, nevertheless, the quadrocopter began to fully turn on much more often after disassembling and assembling, although sometimes it is still mowing. But the mood with each successful time increased.

The next morning, I still decided to go and try it on the street, preparing for the fact that you might have to spend some time on it. From reviews of other people, I took into account the importance of setting up the Failsafe function, which allows you to turn off the gas supply when the copter loses communication with the remote control. It is important that your copter does not fly further to his homeland in China, but simply collapses down (this option is better than running around looking for it in the forests and steppes, or even worse, mourning a crashed soldier on the wall of nearby houses).

Perhaps this is a button accordion, but I also decided to shoot a small video on setting up this function:

Also, I decided not to take the whole box, but carefully cut one of the half of the foam rubber used to mount the quadrocopter and its configuration. Thus, I got a very compact box that can be put in a backpack and not carry a hefty “suitcase”.

So, having driven off a bit of the countryside, a place was found that seemed to be suitable for the first tests. A beveled clearing with soft short grass is ideal for dropping a quadrocopter. One of the criteria was the lack of people, cars, and buildings nearby. After all, it is not known how a racing copter can behave in the hands of a pilot without experience.

So that you understand how much I am a lamer, I had to surf the Internet and watch how to screw the screws correctly. :)

Fortunately, the copter started without jambs and immediately, and in subsequent times, it started without problems. I thought, MB, he loves freedom and clean air, and at home he is naughty in captivity ... :)
So, having put down the tablets, I decided to follow the advice I met on the Internet: “You must immediately sharply click on the gas stick so that the copter soars up.” But this advice was not very.

As I understand it, you must first add gas, and then sharply, but not to the full extent, add power.

The first attempts I could not cope with holding the quadrocopter, and all the time it flew sideways and fell, but fortunately did not damage anything. The Runner 250 turned out to be extremely sharp and sensitive to any action, and due to the fact that the gas stick, which is also a turn on its axis, moves too easily and cannot be fixed, the quadric constantly either soars up sharply or decreases steeply.

And so, as soon as I started to manage it, I decided to fly a little. Having flown a long distance, I tried to turn around, but due to the inexperience and sensitivity of the stick, which I mentioned a little higher, it all ended in failure. Runner gazed up, rolled over, lost control and rushed down with an ax from a height of about 20 meters. The selected soft soil did not help here.

The result is a broken screw. It is a pity that the manufacturer did not provide for spare ones. At the most interesting point!

    Conclusion:

If you are looking for an excellent quadcopter racing ready to fly, then I advise you to think about purchasing a Walkera Runner 250. And for those who like to collect everything on their own, you can buy a version of BNF.

You need to take up flights on your Walkera Runner 250 with a decent quadcopter control experience behind you, since it does not have all kinds of things to help you fly. When I decided that this would be my first quadrocopter, I even prepared a list of exercises for myself, which according to the plan I had to perform and write about it. How wrong I was ... All the piloting lessons found on the Internet do not fit this model. Quadrocopter Runner 250 is wild and sharp, you still have to adapt to it, so to speak, tame it. But the buzz received even in such a short time from use is incomparable. We practically do not kill a quadrocopter, not counting the screws, since the frame is composite and made of carbon sheets. You can say, I fell in love with him and I will continue to continue trying to fly on it as soon as new screws arrive, but first by practicing more fit models for beginners. After all, the price, although not very large, was bought on gearbest.ru for255.60 $ * (~ 16,000 rubles), but there are different crashes, all the more so for racing quadrocopters and I don’t feel like risking it.
