Australians introduced a device for easy detection of veins



    A team of experts from Australia has developed a device that allows you to easily detect veins on the patient’s arm. The problem of detecting veins on the arm is quite relevant for many people. If it is difficult to find a vein, the nurse can insert the needle into the arm several times until it enters the vessel.

    Near-infrared radiation is used to detect a vein.

    Radiation from this spectrum is absorbed by hemoglobin molecules unsaturated with oxygen. And since blood that is poor in oxygen flows in the veins, it is the veins that are highlighted.

    Radiation is safe for health, but it is not recommended to shine in the eyes (in fact, why do this?). The device is used in Australian Red Cross Blood, a donor medical service. In the near future, the scanner will be used when working with several hundred volunteer donors. At the same time, experts hope that a new type of device will attract young volunteers who are interested in such a technology for blood sampling to donation.
