Tea, coffee, cookies and a pleasant atmosphere. We invite everyone to the next Hiring Tournament in Moscow

It's probably hard to find someone who loves interviewing. Agree that transferring your affairs, going somewhere, communicating with an HR manager, and possibly with two, while answering openly disgusted questions of the same type is tiring. But finding a job is not always tiring conversations with people who don’t understand you. That is why we hold our Hiring Tournaments , which, by the way, were very well received by Habr's readers . But back to why we do this at all.

A classic interview with a HR representative can be even more unbearable than usual. How? Yes, very simple. The situation is aggravated if there is no immediate supervisor present at the interview, or even worse, the interview is divided into 3-4 stages.

First, a representative of the HR department conducts a telephone interview with you, asking simple and not always necessary questions. Then you are scheduled for an interview, where everything is repeated, only now in some stuffy meeting room. Then you wait for the call until HR spreads out all resumes in two piles, after which you get to the next “level” of the interview. The apogee of all this may be a request to "write code on a leaflet" or a question of the level of "tell us about the TCP / IP stack. Readers with wild imagination at this point already burst a couple of vessels in the eyes, from which they were filled with blood.

What is the most frustrating technician who is looking for a job in the hiring process? In fact, there are several popular answers, but this one leads: "it is impossible to demonstrate your real skills at an interview." This situation can be compared to buying a car, focusing only on its color and the sound of a horn. Seriously? Why should a cool techie smile at people who don’t always understand what he is doing, strive to like them in order to get a new job on his interesting project?

This situation on the labor market in the IT segment actually disheartens even the most optimistic individuals. We do not argue, there are people who know how to go for interviews and they even like it, but let's be honest: the ability to communicate with people does not mean a high level of skills. As a result, the most charming, sociable, talkative or just fittens get the job.

We do not agree with this situation, therefore we hold our own tournaments. Of course, it does not completely exempt from the interview stage, but we minimize this contact even after demonstrating the level of skills. After all, the best way for a specialist to present himself is to show what he can.

That is why we are holding a new Hiring Tournament in Moscow, May 12th. This time we are looking for people in the positions of SVP of Technical Product Management, VP of Technical Product Management, and Software Engineering Manager for salaries from $ 100 to $ 400 thousand a year. Did you see “manager” in the name of each position and are you thinking of closing the article? Do not hurry.

We have already talked about Software Engineering Manager in our publications and you can read here and here . SEM takes the position of development manager and manages one or more teams on the project.

VP of TM is a person who works with product teams and, in fact, leads the development of a product or even several. On the example of Maxim Vinnikov we talkedthat this is work in the “major league”, as these specialists make key decisions on projects and development, designating the general “course”, being in the past, at the same time, experienced developers.

SVP of TM is a larger specialist and is the direct manager of the aforementioned VP.

All that unites these positions is the need to be a highly qualified specialist. We are sure that a person who does not understand what his subordinates are doing does not have the right to be a leader. That is why you read the announcement of our tournament on Habré, and not anywhere else. We know that it’s worth looking for such people in the main IT community of Runet.

If you are not a resident of the default city, but want to try your hand at remote work with an hourly wage, instead of a piece-rate project, we invite you to familiarize yourself with the vacancies on our showcase and also take part in one of the many online tournaments that are held for specialists the most different directions. There is one more news for our friends from Belarus. Now Crossover is organizing its presence in the capital of the republic and is looking for the necessary specialists in the field. Agree, ignoring such a large IT-hub, which is now Minsk, is extremely short-sighted. So in the near future, such events will be available for Minsk residents and residents of the Republic of Belarus without having to go to another country.

We will always answer your questions in the comments or in private messages. Ask, we will be happy to help. See you at the Hiring Tournament tomorrow, May 12th. Registration is required, free and open to all comers. The event will run from 9:00 to 16:00. See you!
