Representatives of the international developer of antivirus software Eset believe that the desire of mobile operators to integrate antivirus protection into a set of services for subscribers has become a trend. The company decided to use this fact, having agreed with several operators.

Yesterday, April 20, it became known that Eset released a special version of the mobile antivirus Eset NOD32 Mobile Security for the MTS retail network . “The purchase model is adapted to the sales process in MTS salons. The seller recommends an anti-virus to customers, after payment the user receives an SMS with activation data and a link to download the distribution. You can also extend the product in the MTS salon, ”says Alexey Kosichenko, director of the development department of Eset Russia.

“Eset sells licenses for MTS through an official distributor, so the whole sale process does not differ from the principle of the Eset affiliate network. There is a share of experiment in this project, so the mechanisms of mutual settlements can be adjusted depending on the wishes of the operators, ”he added.

According to Alexei Kosichenko, Eset in Russia has been cooperating with mobile operators for several years.

In 2014, the company released a special version of Eset Nod32 Mobile Security for subscribers of VimpelCom PJSC(Beeline brand). “At that time, it was the only operator project for anti-virus protection, where a one-click purchase was implemented and linked to a subscriber’s mobile account. The product is called "Mobile Security", today the number of its users is measured in hundreds of thousands, "said Alexei Kosichenko.

According to VimpelCom’s spokeswoman Anna Aibasheva, the Eset application automatically updates virus databases, allows you to use additional anti-phishing functions, SMS and call filter, audit applications and much more.

“Moreover, it is preinstalled on all current smartphones and tablets under the Beeline brand, as well as on devices of other manufacturers, as part of exclusive co-branding models,” Anna Aybasheva told ComNews.

Alexei Kosichenko said that Eset also has common projects with MegaFon PJSC . The head of MegaFon’s press service, Yulia Dorokhina, added that the operator’s clients can also protect their mobile device for free with antivirus from Kaspersky Lab .

Tele2 plans to introduce an antivirus solution. The company is currently negotiating cooperation with information security market leaders, ”said Olga Galushina, spokeswoman for Tele2.

The advantages of such an anti-virus solution for subscribers are, as Alexei Kosichenko noted, that they can quickly and easily protect a mobile device. As for telecom operators, he added, recommending anti-virus to subscribers, ultimately they reduce security risks throughout the network.

“By the way, some operators had attempts to develop their own antivirus solutions, but in the end they came to the idea that antivirus vendors should be involved in protecting subscribers,” concluded Alexei Kosichenko.

The trend of “built-in protection” is also widespread in the market of social networks. So, Eset Nod32 technology according to this model uses Facebook . Anti-virus modules are also integrated into complex corporate security solutions, notes Alexei Kosichenko.

By the end of 2015, the share of sales of Eset antivirus for mobile devices in revenue increased from 5% to 15%. At the beginning of 2016, Eset products appeared in 6 thousand points of sale of cellular retail. “In 2016, a common business with telecom operators will bring Eset from 8 to 10% of revenue. As the numbers show, mobile users and mobile retail have become growth points for software providers, ” company representatives told CNews.

“The company compensates for the drop in sales in traditional offline retail by several measures, including the launch of new solutions for mobile devices on the market and the creation of a common business with telecom operators,” noted Eset.

The head of Eset in Russia and the CIS, Denis Mateev, also explains the company's revenue growth by active work in the corporate segment: “Despite the fact that the economy was going through a difficult period, we managed to maintain a high level of renewals and grow well in new sales, primarily to large corporate clients” . In addition, the growth in sales through online stores played a role, he notes.
