Google has closed the development center in St. Petersburg
Today it became known about the closure by Google of its development center in St. Petersburg. As it turned out, the office was closed back in August, and the center’s employees were transferred to work in company divisions in different countries: Switzerland, Germany and the USA, TASS writes . Google explained its actions by optimizing workflows.
Previously, the development center occupied two floors with a total area of 1.5 thousand square meters in the famous Alia Tempora business center, in the center of St. Petersburg. The employees of the center worked, in particular, on creating the Google Toolbar for the Firefox browser, as well as on the Google Code Search service.
The fact that the corporation plans to close its development center, it became known back in 2014. The reason, according to experts, is the entry into force of the law on the storage of personal data. Nevertheless, the company explains its actions by optimization, as mentioned above.
