Russia creates a new service for resolving copyright issues

    The Russian authorities decided to create a separate office, which will deal with all issues related to copyright. The new service is being created on the basis of Rospatent, it will be headed by the head of this department Grigory Ivliev (pictured).

    Introducing the new leader, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said that a draft decree has been prepared in the government, according to which a megaregulator service will be created on the basis of Rospatent, which will deal with all issues related to intellectual property in Russia. In particular, the current authority of the Ministry of Culture regarding copyright protection will be transferred to the service.

    The very creation of a new service, Shuvalov linked to the need of the Russian economy for modernization, which is impossible without copyright protection.
