Russian online retailer Yulmart may become an aggregator for other online stores

The Russian online store Yulmart is exploring the possibility of working in the marketplace format . Retailer is in talks on cooperation with perfumes and cosmetics network "Rive Gauche" , the shoe online retailer Obuv.com , network drogerie "rainbow smile" , and a linen band "RozTeh" . Co-owner and chairman of the board of directors of Yulmart Dmitry Kostygin is also a co-owner of these companies.

Yulmart is Russia's largest online store by revenue. By providing its online platform and logistics networks to other sellers, the retailer will be able to become an aggregator site, following the example of the American Amazon and the Chinese Alibaba Group .

“Russia has developed a good Internet industry, its own Yandex search engine, the largest Avito message board, Mail.ru mail service, but there are no two important components: a really large online retailer - yet Yulmart has not yet reached the level of Chinese or Indian stores. And there is no major player working in the marketplace format. We want to see how long after the “click” of the consumer, the companies themselves will be able to process and collect the order, and we will process and, if necessary, arrange delivery, ”says Kostygin.

In Russia, clothing and footwear ranks second in terms of online sales after household appliances and electronics. According to InSalesLast year, the total turnover of this category of goods amounted to 93 billion rubles. The volume of online sales of cosmetics and perfumes amounted to 10 billion rubles. The total volume of the Russian e-commerce market is estimated at 612 billion rubles.

Catalogs of other sellers on the Yulmart site will be posted for free. They will pay a fee for processing, courier delivery or using a distribution center.

Kostygin expects that charging a commission will provide at least a third of the company's total revenue.
In 2014, the online retailer’s revenue was $ 1.1 billion. In 2015, it is expected to receive $ 1.3 billion.

Yulmart partners at the expense of the marketplace will be able to significantly reduce their marketing costs. “Many stores in the United States almost no longer buy contextual advertising, they place their products on aggregator sites, this is the future of online trading,” said Fedor Virin, co-founder of Data Insight , to RBC.
