Booking.com will store data in Russia

    Deputy Head of Roskomnadzor Antonina Priezzhaeva met with top managers of Booking.com. The most popular tourist site in Russia is ready to store the personal data of citizens in the country, writes "Kommersant" .

    Booking.com Senior Infrastructure and Technology Manager and General Manager of Bucking.com Russia LLC discussed the implementation of the law on the storage of personal data of Russian citizens in the country. Booking.com press service confirmed to Kommersant the meeting with Roskomnadzor and noted that Russia is an important market for the company, and that the company is monitoring developments around the 242 Federal Law.

    Roskomnadzor held meetingson the storage by foreign companies of personal data of Russians in the country with the online auction eBay and AliExpress . Roskomnadzor did not reach an agreement with Google as a result of negotiations.

    Law 242-FZ “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation Regarding Specification of the Procedure for Processing Personal Data in Information and Telecommunication Networks” will enter into force on September 1, 2015. From this moment on, all companies working with personal data of Russian citizens should only store this data on the territory of this country. This law caused a lot of questions and opinions , it was proposed to mitigate , allowing to store the data of Russians abroad with the consent of the users themselves.
