Consideration of the complaint of Yandex on Google is postponed until June 1 for technical reasons

The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service ( FAS ) has postponed the date of consideration of the Yandex complaint against Google to June 1 . In the meantime, the court will study some of the materials that were provided by Yandex only yesterday. Another reason for the transfer is the absence of a Google representative due to the lengthy procedure for obtaining a visa to travel to Russia.

Megamind wrote that in February Yandex accused Google of violating fair competition in the mobile systems market and filed a complaint with the FAS. After that, the FAS sued the offender.

According to Yandex, the company violates article 14 of the law“On Protection of Competition”, forcing manufacturers of mobile devices installing the Android operating system to abandon the pre-installation of competitors' applications.

Last year, three manufacturers of Android OS-based smartphones ( Fly , Explay, and Prestigio ) stopped installing Yandex services on their devices. The reason was allegedly the special terms of the contract with Google. However, the search giant stubbornly rejected the allegations against it.

The trial was supposed to take place in April. However, Google managed to get the trial adjourned until May 25. This was because the company did not have time to prepare all the necessary documents.

The share of Yandex in the search market is declining. It is strongly determined by the choice of a particular search engine by mobile users. According to LiveInternet.ru , in April of this year, Yandex received 58.1% of Runet search queries. Last year, this figure reached 62%. The share of Google increased - 34.1% in 2015 compared to 27.6% in 2014.

It is also worth noting that after 5 years of investigation, the European Commission sued Google for violating antitrust laws. The trial with Google will become the European Commission's loudest antitrust case after a similar story with Microsoft, which was ultimately fined $ 1.8 billion. Fine for Google could be $ 6 billion.
