IPad tablets dropped to seventh place for shipments to Russia

IPad shipments to Russia fell in one year by 85.3% in monetary terms, dropping from second to seventh place, RBC reports . Among the reasons for the loss of popularity of tablets are the appearance of a phablet from Apple and a general decline in interest in devices of this type.

In November 2014, Apple’s tablet sales went down for the first time according to IDC estimates. In 2014, the growth of the entire tablet market has slowed down compared to 2013, when tablet sales rose to 52.5% compared to 2012.

In February 2015, tablet sales worldwide declined for the first time in history . Apple remained the leader in sales with a share of 21.4%, although year-on-year sales of Apple tablets fell 17.8% to 21.4 million in the fourth quarter.

In early 2014, the iPad was the second most popular tablet among users in Russia. The rating has changed over the year: Samsung remained leaders in deliveries - Korean devices in the first quarter of 2015 amounted to 16.2%, Explay in second place, and Asus in third place. The fourth and fifth positions were taken by Digma and Prestigio.

In monetary terms, iPad shipments fell 85.3% over the year. The line ranks seventh in deliveries to Russia. The result is explained by a general decline in interest in tablets, as well as the start of sales of the iPhone 6 Plus, which, according to Read it Later Inc., distracts owners from the tablet. According to them, the appearance of a smartphone with a 5.5-inch screen could change the balance of power within the Apple ecosystem.
