Former Vkontakte Shareholders Become Investors of Yuri Milner Funds

Lev Leviev and Vyacheslav Mirilashvili, former shareholders of Vkontakte, became shareholders of two DST Global funds. Through these funds, entrepreneurs manage shares in Alibaba, Facebook, Twitter, writes RBC. “I believe that Yuri Milner is a brilliant investor, we were in DST II, entered DST IV and are happy with everything,” Lev Leviev said. Currently, the amount of investment in DST Global funds remains unknown.

Recall that DST funds invest in technology companies from around the world. One of the funds previously invested in the social network Facebook, the company Zynga, the Groupon service. A fund such as DST Global II was formed at the end of 2010, with its help it was possible to raise about $ 1 billion. At the same time, the share of Russian capital here was about 20%. Two years later, in 2012, DST Global III was formed, the capital of which also amounted to $ 1 billion. The fourth DST fund was launched in 2014, with a capital of more than $ 1 billion.

It is worth noting that the DST Global II fund has several shares in very famous companies, including Facebook, Twitter, Airbnb, Spotify, Alibaba, Xiaomi. The fourth fund has shares in the Indian taxi service Ola Cabs and the corporate messenger Slack.

Lev Leviev believes that almost all investments of DST funds are promising. For example, Slack corporate messenger can work on its own, and can be used in conjunction with other services. “For example, my startup BlockTrail started with bitcoin analytics, but later we changed our focus and created a technology platform that allows anyone who wants to create Bitcoin applications. As an experiment, BlockTrail made an open source application for sending bitcoins inside the Slack messenger, ”said the businessman.

As for Vyacheslav Mirilashvili, he is one of the first investors of the Vkontakte social network. A businessman invested $ 30 thousand in it. Currently, Vyacheslav Mirilashvili’s fortune is estimated at $ 950 million. In 2013, Lev Leviev and Vyacheslav Mirilashvili sold their shares in the Vkontakte social network to Ilya Shcherbovich’s United Capital Partners fund.
